I have been a bad, bad, non-existent blogger. I think about blogging all the time. Ok, not ALL the time, but many times I can be heard saying, “Oh, I should blog this,” or, “Oh, I need to blog that.” But somehow it never translates. So I’ll be cliche and use the new year as an excuse to kickstart this thing again. Here are some resolutions off the top of my head.

Get my (larger) ass back to the gym.
I went on Monday so that technically I could say started going back before the new year and couldn’t be labeled one of THOSE people. But I haven’t gone again this week because it took days to recover and now, well, I’m busy doing the next two things on this list.

Learn to sew.
I got a sewing machine for Christmas because hand stitching pillows is a bitch. I had my first lesson today and made my first pillow—a catnip one for Miss Zoe—and now that I’ve discovered there’s such a thing as a magnetic seam guide I must go out and get one because I suck at sewing in a straight line.

Read!
I have amassed a ridiculous pile of unread books, some of which I’ve started. I have invoked a book-buying or receiving moratorium until these books are done. (I’m currently engrossed in Twighlight. Love it. Goes well with the Buffy marathon I’m currently in the middle one so the EXBF can get up to speed.)

That’s all I got. So bloggers, if there is anyone that still comes here hoping for something of interest, w hat are your resolutions for 2009?

Update
I forgot at least this next one...more may be coming.

Learn to crochet.
I’m hoping this is an easy one! Mostly I just want to be able to make ice skate ornaments similar to these.

So yes, I switched hosts (thanks Yoshi!!) and had some technically issues (apparently I needed Yoshi’s permission to leave!). But here I am.

So what’s new? Since I last blogged, which I can’t believe was election day, I guess a lot has gone on, at least in the world. We have a new president I actually like!!! Wooo!!!! I also had another birthday, and hosted a party to help celebrate. It was really a housewarming party but having it on my birthday meant people had to come (and bring me gifts! kidding...maybe). I went to yet another Butch Walker show. I’ve never been so late with Christmas <strike>shopping</strike> cards. And out my window today the snow is coming down pretty hard, but it’s pretty.

So what excitement in your lives have I missed?

I quite literally feel sick to my stomach with nerves. The excitement I felt this morning is gone. Now I just want it to be 5pm so I can know. Maybe the grande peppermint mocha I got from Starbucks was a bad idea…

I know there’s not a single person who reads this who needs to ask who I’m voting for on Tuesday. But this time it truly is different. This time I’m not just voting for the Democrat because, well, I’d never vote for a Republican. This time when I pull that lever I’ll do so with all my heart and soul behind Barack Obama.

I have never been so inspired by a political candidate before. I spent almost 8 years working for a state lobbying organization and don’t have much to say about New York’s political ‘leaders’ as a result. I’ve been to the Hill to lobby our Congressmen and Senators. But for the first time—and several times—I’ve contributed to a candidate. I’ve worn pins for a candidate. I’ve put bumper stickers and magnets on my car for a candidate. I’ve made calls for a candidate. (This is the stuff I usually reserve for rock stars.) But I truly believe that Obama is a man that we can trust. Of course, I’m not just voting for a person; I’m voting for the issues. I’m voting for someone that I know is pro-environment, pro-choice, pro-education, pro-health care, and truly pro-middle class. All politicians do some amount of pandering, but I know that Obama will by and large stand by his words. And what words they are! How nice it would be to finally have someone we can be proud of. Someone that can be respected. Someone with the poise to be a true leader.

Obama is not a socialist. He is far from radical. He is not Muslim or Arab or anything else. He is the future.

If there’s anyone out there that’s still undecided and cares at all what I have to say, I’d be happy to tell you more about why I’m voting for real change on Tuesday. And for the love of god people, just go out and vote on Tuesday. If nothing else, you can get a free cup of joe.

I realized today that I’m two months behind in uploading photos, and in that time a lot has happened. I’ve traveled out of state, been to two different major league baseball stadiums, been on a riverboat cruise, met a member of the Rolling Stones’ band, visited a world wonder (well, maybe just a US wonder), been to three concerts and moved! And that’s just what I was able to capture on film, er, disc. Last night I also got to finally see Mama Mia! thanks to Adelle, but I didn’t even take a camera to try to steal some shots. That’s ok, though. Sometimes it’s nice just to enjoy something without trying to get the perfect shot.

Anyway, it’ll take some time to catch up, but I’m trying. First up—my trip to Pittsburgh, PA in September. Mind you, there are more photos from this trip. These photos are just of the river cruise we took and of Chuck Leavell—the keyboardist from the Rolling Stones. My photo with him is at work somewhere so I’ll have to add that later. He was a hoot and a half and managed to wake me from the coma I was in after a month of working harder than I ever have before. It also shows that sometimes you can mix work with rock star stalking.
